The Low Down
EDITORS TIPS
When to Go: Raise the roof: Sunday afternoon means it's party time at the pool with a live DJ from 12pm-7pm. Entry is $20 after 2pm.
When to Go: Get there before last call, when an influx of hungry clubgoers makes 2am to 3:30am the restaurant's busiest time.
The Extras: Non-hotel guests from all over the city drop in for an affordable cut at Rudy's. It's just like your corner barbershop, if your corner barbershop had customers like Matt Dillon and offered tattoos.
The Extras: If you're too schnockered to drive home, nab one of the surprisingly affordable rooms (they start at $99).
Parking: Valet is available or you can try self-parking in one of the adjacent pay lots.
Know Before You Go: You can host a unique soiree at the Standard's private bar and lounge--it even has a separate entrance at the side of the hotel. Pool a bunch of friends to share the cost; it makes a great spot for a birthday, holiday party or New Year's rager.
Parking: Valet is the best bet for diners not staying at the hotel. Get validation for a two-hour discount rate.
Look Good: Waiting for a table? Pass the time with a poolside cocktail.
Know Before You Go: Call ahead to make sure there's not a private party. A cover is often required Thursdays through Sundays.
Know Before You Go: Keep in mind that rooms facing the Sunset Strip tend to get a little noisy on Friday and Saturday nights, thanks to the boulevard's hectic nightlife scene. But then most guests of The Standard are here to party anyway.
